SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) Manager

Job Description:

  • Lead Hydrogenics Management System.  Lead interface with external quality auditors.  Own corrective action, continuous improvement and non-conforming product processes.
  • Lead Certification processes towards ISO 14001, OSHA 18001, ASME, etc.
  • Maintain list of quality issues for HYG products and processes.  Ensure timely Root Cause Analysis
  • Resolve supplier issues
  • Create quality control plans
  • Ensure product pass/fail criteria are aligned with technical specifications
  • Compile data, produce and present reports on key performance indicators to team members. Suggest improvements
  • Manage incoming parts inspection; create and maintain quality inspection documents
  • Manage outgoing product inspection, FAT criteria/reporting, final inspection checklists
  • Develop reliability models for customer and internal power systems
  • Lead JHSC committee (management rep)
  • Lead Pre-start safety reviews on new and modified equipment
  • Organize health and safety training seminars
  • Other duties as required

Education Requirements:

  •   Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering

Work Experience:

  •   10 years experience

Skills and attributes:

  • Proven track record in quality management in a technology company;
  • ISO9001 certified internal auditor
  • Understanding of RCA, NCRs, CARs, KPIs, Lean concepts;
  • Six Sigma black belt or ASQ CQM/OE certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of product/project compliance (UL, ASME, CSA, IEC, ISO, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Provincial and Federal EH&S requirement (WHMIS, OSHA, ETC.)
  • JHSC membership at previous employer
  • Experience with reliability modeling; Item software preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information and data in a clear and organized manner to a variety of audiences;
  • Innovative yet detail-oriented;
  • Strong time management skills;
  • Energetic, self-starter with ability to work independently or in a team environment,.
