Chief Executive Officer
Daryl Wilson was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in December 2006, bringing a varied 25-year background in technology and industrial management to the company, including operations, manufacturing, human resources, research, product development, organizational change and turn-around experience.
Prior to joining Hydrogenics, he held senior leadership positions at Royal Group Technologies, Zenon Environmental, Toyota and Dofasco.
Daryl began his career with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto. In 1990, Daryl also earned an MBA from McMaster University in Operations Management/Management Science.
Chief Technology Officer
Joseph Cargnelli is one of our company’s founders and has served as a Hydrogenics Director since January 1996. He became Vice President, Technology in July 2000. Joe is known for his hands-on approach to engineering and his dedication to finding efficient and effective engineering solutions.
Previously, Joe worked for a year (1992-93) as a Research Engineer with the Laboratory of Advanced Concepts in Energy Conversion Inc., a laboratory engaged in the research, development and demonstration of alkaline fuel cells and hydrogen storage methods. He has his Master’s degree in Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto, where he also received his Bachelor’s degree in the same field.

Chief Financial Officer
Marc Beisheim was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary on May 11, 2018. Most recently the CFO of The Canadian Press, Marc was also previously the CFO of Aeroquest International Limited, a TSX listed company at the time. His experience reflects a focus on companies within the engineering, technology and manufacturing sectors.
Marc has also held senior positions in operational management with mandates to deliver growth and improved financial performance; experience that compliments his core capabilities and competency in finance.
He received his Baccalaureate in Commerce Honours from the University of Ottawa and is a Chartered Professional Account.
Vice President Sales and Marketing
Wido Westbroek was appointed Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Hydrogenics Corp in August of 2011, he joined the company in 2006 as Vice President, Operations of the Belgium OnSite Generation business and subsequently was appointed as Vice President and General Manager for Hydrogenics Europe n.v. in 2007.
His former career, spanning 18 years, was with Powerlasers, a developer and manufacturer of unique laser welding technology and a maker of auto parts for automotive OEMs based in Canada and the U.S.
Wido received his Bachelor of Science in Physics at the University of Waterloo in Ontario.
Dr. Bernd Pitschak,
Managing Director Hydrogenics GmbH
Dr. Bernd Pitschak was appointed Managing Director of Hydrogenics GmbH in April of 2002 after the company he co-founded in 1998 (ENKAT GmbH, a developer and provider of Fuel Cell Test Stations) was acquired by Hydrogenics. He is responsible for all business aspects in regards to fuel cell test stations, PEM fuel cells and system integration in Europe. In 2009 he took on the sales and marketing responsibility for Power to Gas activities in Germany.
Bernd’s former career started in 1991 in the gas industry at the Gaswärme-Institut in Essen, Germany where he held the position as the Head of Domestic Gas Applications.
Bernd received his Masters Degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Process Engineering at Bochum University in Germany, and holds a PhD (Dir.-Ing.) in Thermodynamics.
General Manager On-Site Generation
Filip Smeets was appointed General Manager of the Belgian based On-Site Generation global business in April of 2011.
Filip was previously a General Manager with Cabot Corporation, a global performance materials’ company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts USA where he held full P&L responsibility and oversight of 400 employees for Cabot Corporation’s plastics business. During his tenure at Cabot Corporation, Mr. Smeets held increasingly responsible positions in marketing and business leadership.
Filip received his Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Antwerp, Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Limburg, and has received Six Sigma training from General Electric.
