Southern California Gets One More Hydrogen Fueling Station with Hydrogenics Technology
On May 7th, The College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology at California State University, Los Angeles, officially opened its Hydrogen Research and Fueling Facility and the College Open House, operated using Hydrogenics Technology. The facility is the largest university-operated hydrogen plant of its kind in the U.S.
Hydrogenics installed one HySTAT-30 electrolyzer that provides 65kg of Hydrogen per day.
Cal State LA’s Hydrogen Research and Fueling Facility will be “utilized for research, teaching and advancing clean transportation technologies, as well as dispensing fuel to hydrogen fuel cell vehicle users,” the university says. The station is just a couple miles from downtown Los Angeles and its vortex of highways, so it may become a cog in the long-awaited Hydrogen Highway.
Officials at the event included representatives from the university itself, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the U.S. Department of Energy, and the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
